PostSubject: The Mage and the Mercenary    Fri Nov 08, 2013 5:35 pm

Justin sat in his home reading a book, more of a text on the rituals and spells of summoning beings from the Spirit World. The book had the seal of the Order on the front of it, which Justin was a member of. His house looked fairly normal though it had seals and spell circles all around it, protecting it from nearly anything. He sighed as he closed the book and stood up to move to the bookshelf, placing it back in its rightful place. He got a glass of scotch from the table near the bookshelf and moved to his large window overlooking the bay and smiled.

Joseph awoke not long before the plane touched for down, but he wasn't in the mood for explaining why a heavily armed person was allowed to have all those guns so using some of the benefits of angel hood, Joseph stole a pallet from a loading yard which he thought wasn't far from the house, but used the benefits again just in case to reach the middle of the bay far farther out than the naked eye could see. Laying out using the pallet to keep his rifle dry, Joseph watched his newest target carefully and makin sure not to underestimate him. Thinking to himself, weighing the options on whether or not to possibly scare him a little or play it safe and sit silently. He decided that the first was better and aimed in carefully; thought about how far away he was and concluded with the suppressor that was always on the rifle that nobody was gonna hear him, and fired into the window but not anywhere near hitting the man but close enough to scare the average person. "Though outa do it." Joseph thought to himself as he followed the shoot as it traveled.

Justin saw the bullet crash threw his window and dived, hitting the floor in mere seconds. He crawled on the floor, his scotch splattered on the floor, making his way to a lower cabinet near the bookshelf. He smacked open the door to the cabinet and pulled out a pistol, it was adorned in symbols and strange words. He moved into the next room and waited for anyone to try and get into the house.

Joseph chambered a new round and laughing at the man's reaction, ten Joseph thought to himself. "This guy must really not know who he screwed with, any half-brained sniper could of hit him." So Joseph brewed a small plan, and started carving the shell of one of his bullets writing (Tick) on it then he fired tick into the window again aiming a nothing in particular. With that accomplished Joseph left the pallet and started swimming towards the shore away from the house he had fired at, looking for a place to stay a bit.

Justin heard the second shot and cringed ever so slightly, but he recovered and stood up. Looking around he saw the broken glass and some bullet holes from the sniper shots. He waited and waited for some other sign of the shooter. The hunted sat waiting for its hunter.

Soon as the window was shattered a second time Hunter's team moved in. Not to that house but the ones around it. If they there were occupants they were swiftly sedated and hid. The Forlorn Rangers were experts at not killing those they wanted alive after all, it was an old practice. Hunter sighed as he checked his PDA everyone gave the signal they were in position. He was on the back side of Justin's home out of view and rather huddle in a corner, in the dark.

There was too much noise with the window already but the phone cables were quickly cut as a precautionary and then scratched and rubbed, making it look like a pest did it, Joseph couldn't fail and be caught, bring terrible burden upon this faction.

Joseph swam to shore quickly yet making a note not to let the rifle get wet as to preserve its condition. Once ashore Joseph looked again at the house and thought "no retaliation, what is going on? He must be calling reinforcements." So now somewhat dry began going through the bag he packed earlier acquired the thermal scope he had brought (other than that the bag contained a couple grenades of various kinds, a few hundred dollars in currency, a small amount of provisions, spare magizines, and a small book tucked away safely under some if the more dry provisions.) now in hand Joseph switched the scope from the normal 12x that was currently on the rifle to the thermal scope and began scanning the area for any sign of movement shortly after he made for the roof of the building looking for an entrance. (I'm going to assume that nobody is coming and save us all a gruleing post rotation.)

Justin breathed heavy as he waited for the next shot, but it didn't come. He stood there waiting and contemplating before finally deciding to make a move. He focused hard and focused his energies and whispered the word, "Dorphal". Instantly, Justin saw his surroundings...and the soldiers in the buildings next to him. He also saw something that made him cringe ever so slightly: angels, tough but definetly not impossible to defeat. He assumed that the sniper had brought back up, just what he needed. He sighed and killed the spell saving his energy and went about setting up ritual defenses...it was going to be a long night.

Joseph now on the roof secured his rifle with the rest if his resources, now properly equipped for close quarters combat Joseph grabbed one of his grenades off his belt a "nine banger" according to most soldiers who use it. (or those lucky enough to not ofed died after begging stunned by one.) Joseph then secured himself via a cord attached to the roof; he then threw the nine banger threw the window he had fired threw earlier. Joseph quickly jumped into the window after about the fifth bang performing a combat roll with his eyes closed instead if being blinded. Now inside he took cover by the bookshelf he had rolled by, preparing to pop out and detain the man, he suspected the worse to come.

Hunter sighed slowly standing up. He just slowly moved around the back of the building even through all the noise humming a small tune in his helmet. Since silence wasn't any longer on the agenda for Joseph neither was it for him. After searching through his pack a bit he just grabbed a large metal half sphere and a bit of c4 still humming the tune. First went on the small amount of c4, next the metal lid over top of it before he quickly drilled it into the wall with another search of his pack.

After a bit of padding from random objects to muffle the sound just a bit more Hunter slowly walked around the corner counting down before pulling the trigger. Making not such a big hole in the wall but a good start with only a "minor" amount of noise.

Just fell from the explosion and was blinded by the flash bang, his mind was moving quickly as to comprehend what to do. First as the explosions went off and the uninvited entered his dwelling, Justin shot his gun at Joseph before shouting a spell, "Malpvrg!" cried Justin as hundreds of 'fiery darts' launched towards Joseph each about the size of a tennis ball and moving as fast as bullets.

Joesph was suppressed by every meaning of the word, an explosion, bullets, and darts is definitely something cover was made for. He simply tucked further in the crease by the shelf pushing himself as deep into the corner as possible, while he did this he said loudly "if you put down the grenade launching dart shotgun, maybe we can talk!" Joseph thought to himself breifly "there is no way in hell he is going to agree to that." So he chucked another nine banger this time followed by a frag grenade once the first went off towards the gunshots.

Justin saw the grenade through the haze of the flash bang and shouted out a spell in the direction of the grenade, "Zacam!". Nearly instantly, a wave of energy pushed the grenade back against the wall on Joseph's side of the room.

Hunter sighed annoyed by the even louder noises coming from inside the house in mere moment he slammed through the already damaged and broken wall, Remington 870 in hand. He scanned the room quickly before pointing it at the man Joseph was after. "See, this is exactly why you can't let people just up and quit in this economy. They always get into such a bloody mess, it always ends up being a backlash to said employer."

Justin turned to face Hunter, having thrown the grenade back at Joseph, and stared Hunter dead in the eyes. "Ors!" said Justin as he just stood there and then suddenly, almost in an instant, the entire room turned dark and pitch black, ot even the sunlight from outside seemed to brighten the dark. Justin stalked around the room, this being his spell he could see fine, looking at and over his two assailants.

Joseph knew he had to move when he saw the grenade come back, so he rounded the bookshelf aiming directly at the man as he quickly ran towards him ready to fire at any sign of offensive behavior. Once he was safely away from the grenade Joseph noticed hunter, while still aiming at the man he tried to figure out what was going on with the simple response of. "Hunter, why are you here?! You ruined everything!" Then all the possible consequences raced threw his mind like total collapse of the company and having to watch another group of his friends be wiped out.

Hunter just sighed shaking his head. He tapped the part of his full helm that was of the gasmask making sure the air filters were working before taking out a decent sized canister and twisting the top knob gas quickly releasing and beginning to fill the room. "Simple, you would of harmed us if you failed anyways. Besides, no one leaves us on their own accord."

Justin saw the gas pour out of the canister and into the room around him and realized that this situation was quickly getting out if hand. Justin sighed but saw no other way, he focused hard on the mental image of Alcatraz and said, "Tastax Alcatraz!". It didn't take long before it started to work, no one could see it in the dark, but he shimmered and disappeared. Across the bay, in the gathering place of the Knights of Alcatraz, Justin appeared, slightly bruised and tired from the battle.

Joseph tired his attention and the direction if his firearm towards hunter and replied. "Hunter; what the hell is that supposed to mean! What are the rangers to you? A cult, or your own personal playthings or something! I think hunter... that you need to get off this power trip you have been having and go back to the normal modest and grateful hunter I met in Africa."

He sighed a bit annoyed at Joseph accusations and more at the lack of sound of someone hitting the floor from passing out. He sent spoke an order inside his helmet softly and a moment later he was told only two were inside the house. "Well Joseph, it's not a power trip, and it's not a cult. You brought bad things upon the Ranger last time you decided to retire, you should figure by now I can't trust you in your retirement bullshit. You think you're entitled to something with how long our history is? I already gave you one chance to leave and make a peaceful life, but this is down right idiocy. Oh and what do you know, even if I hadn't intervened he would of escaped. This isn't some little life of ours anymore Joseph, I'm not worrying about just my little organization, I'm worried about the people inside it, but I guess Hunter the Insane, is too selfish for that, dah?"

He sighed slightly moving away from his arrogant problem and back outside touching the side of his helmet. "He did some more magic but spoke about Alcatraz, nothing we can do now in the middle of the day. Contact NIB and see if they got any dirt on their allies, they'll be just as interested in I about this magic, they've been keeping from the world."

Joseph looked around for a moment, and noticed that for the most part all potential enemies were not here (this is during hunter's dialogue) and began thinkin about his next move, as hunter stopped talking he replied a simple "yea yea." Not really paying attention. After he walked away however he began to pace around in a line thinking out loud as he did this. "Think, think... magic, secret groups, and... Alcatraz! That's where he is or atleast that's the only lead." Joseph then began inspecting what remained of his supplies, being very dissatisfied but he simply refilled his belt with new grenades and headed out without anther word to anyone, as a matter of fact Joseph simply used the angelic benefits that came with a history like his and appeard in the water not far from the building in a small inflatable he borrowed from the local defense force.

Hunter sighed very loudly when they informed him that Joseph had disappeared. "Just tell me if NIB throws us a bone, I might actually kill him and make sure he can't find those damn trees...." He shook his head slightly walking into a shadow and disappearing from existence. A moment later he was beside Joseph just looking over his PDA. "You really do annoy me Joseph, your son was so much more cooperative and actually listened."

"You mean the one I died for?! Besides this isn't about him, this is about taking revenge for my family and all the pain it has caused them over since then. Once this is over I will be able to finally lay down my arms and sleep." Joseph then sighed think vaguely of the day in whih he actually retired, a dream he had frequently. "Anyway, back to business since you insist on helping what do you think we should do about the guy from earlier?"

Hunter couldn't hold rolling his eyes and letting out a sigh of annoyance. His nobility and all these senses of retiring and just becoming an observer, it was disgusting. It was a lie too. Hunter knew Joseph was only making a Eden in his mind that he would, once achieved, would soon grew weary of it. Especially since he was immortal and his family would age and pass on, unless a god pitied him that is.

"Easy, cut out his tongue and torture him for as much info as we can get from him, most likely having him look at one of those computer pads that identified eye movement, can't have him write either. Unless we get him to see reason, which I doubt after that fiasco and any of his friends that will presumably be there will be optional as well."

"Well...." Joseph said as he sighted in looking around, "a simple in and out seems impossible with all these soldiers running around here. So maybe a good old fashioned one distracts while the other gets him fast and we regroup somewhere?"
